    Roadie Songs

    1 Rosie - Jackson Browne
"Well I sat her down right next to me, and got her a beer, while I mixed that sound on stage so the band could hear" "The more I watched her watch them play, the less I thought of to say, when they walked off stage the drummer swept that girl away." (Be sure to read "Rosie" a true story based on this song)

2 The Road - Jackson Browne
"It isn't for the money, and it's only for a while" - "You forget about the losses, you exagerate the wins" - "and along the way their faces all begin to look the same" - "It's just another town along the road."

    3 The Load-Out / Stay - Jackson Browne
"Now the seats are all empty, let the roadies take the stage, pack,it up and tear it down." "They're the first to come, and the last to leave, working for that minimum wage, they'll set it up in another town"... "Roll them cases out, and lift them amps, haul them trusses down and get 'em up the ramps."

4 We are the Road Crew - Motorhead
"Another beer is what I need, Another gig my ears bleed, We Are The Road Crew"..."Another backstage pass for you, Another tube of super glue, Another border to get through"..."Another drink completely blind, Another hotel I can't find"

5a Turn the Page - Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band
"You don't feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through" - "Say here I am, on the road again, there I am up on the stage"..."There I go... turn the page."

5b Turn the Page - Metallica
...with the echos of the amplifiers ringing in your head, you smoke the days last cigarette remembering what she said...."There I go... turn the page."

6 Running On Empty - Jackson Browne
"Gotta do what you can just to keep your love alive. Trying not to confuse it with what you do to survive." - "I don't know how to tell you all just how crazy this life feels."

7 Crew Slut - Frank Zappa
"See the world, don't make a fuss, just get on the bus, crew slut, add water, makes its own sauce, be a crew slut, so you don't forget, call before midnite tonite"... "The boys in the crew, are just waiting for you"

8 The Road's My Middle Name - Bonnie Raitt
"I gotto go, I hope you understand... I got to go baby, cause the road's my middle name" - "I hear it call, so so sweet and plain, I got to go, cause the road's my middle name."

    9 Wherever I May Roam - Metallica
...And the road becomes my bride, I have stripped of all but pride. So in her I do confide, and she keeps me satisfied...Gives me all I need.........Anywhere I Roam...Where I lay my head is home

10 Roland The Roadie And Gertrude The Groupie - Dr. Hook
"He tried to seduce her, said he'd introduce her, to all of the Beatles and Stones." ..."and Roland the roadie loves Gertrude the groupie, but Gertrude the groupie loves groups."

Clearly Jackson Browne is the undisputed winner with 4 out of the top 10, but this is understandable since he cut an entire album dedicated to "The Road."
