(ANSA) - Trieste, December 12 - A stage being built for a concert by Italian rock star Jovanotti in Trieste collapsed Monday, killing one person and injuring eight.
Rescue workers said the stage was nearing completion when the front buckled, leaving workers crushed by scaffolding.
One of the eight taken to hospital was in intensive care and said to be a 'code red', meaning his condition was fairly serious.
It was not clear whether Jovanotti, known for his commitment to leftwing causes, would go ahead with the gig at the PalaTrieste, a major sporting venue in the northeastern Italian city.
